Dark & Light: A Love Story in Black and White

Finally!

A book you and baby can BOTH enjoy!

Dark & Light is a beautiful love story personifying black and white. The illustrations are simple and engaging enough that young children want it read to them again and again. But unlike other more one-dimensional children’s stories, with each re-reading adults will find deeper layers of meanings: elements of race relations, Taoism, conflict resolution, sharing, difference, acceptance, love, sexuality and romantic relationships.

In the first book, Dark meets Light. Light is strange and beautiful, which makes Dark afraid. Dark lashes out at first, but through the shared creation of things like the moon and lightning, they come to understand and even love each other. Before long, shades of gray are born, making one big happy family.

In the second book, the shades of gray create color by playing together, teaching children the beautiful things that can happen when they put aside their differences. In the third volume, the color blue tries to be more like the color yellow, but ends up turning green, teaching children that it’s better to be themselves. Along the way, many elements in nature are “created,” giving children a real-life tether to this imaginative world.

Dark & Light is envisioned as a series of three 16-page books, though currently only Volume One is available. Contact us to pre-order your board book or ebook copy today!
